Interview with Tassia Canellis, Fullsix artistic director

Tassia graduated from Lisaa in 1999 .

What have been the steps of your professional career ?

When I finished studying at Lisaa, I won a contest for different schools organized by a theater in Yvelines. This was my first paid freelance job. Then, I had a few small contracts, I did an internship in an advertising agency and, in August 2000, I began working at Fullsix.

First I was assistant art director. My boss left after six months and I became Junior Art Director. Then a year later, Art Director.

-How does your job work ?

What changes a lot is that now I manage a team of five people. I take care of budgets and planning … Overall, I spend half of my time in management and the other half in creation.

- How do you deal with your clients ?

When you are an Art Director, you meet a lot of clients. Often we can do what we want, but it is rare. In general, clients have certain restrictions, graphic requirements, etc. What is annoying is when they have ideas which are too set, which means we simply execute the work. Fortunately, there are often consultants who bridge the gap so we maintain a certain freedom.

- Tell us about Fullsix

The group, in France, has 250 people. And we have offices pretty much all over the world : in Madrid, Lisbon, New York, Shanghai … Internally, we are organized in small, diversified teams, capable of doing everything : both web and print design …

- What advice would you like to give Lisaa students and recent graduates ?

Today, agencies want multi-talented people. Take advantage, while at school, of trying to do different things. When you start at an agency, you might expect a faster pace. But first, you must prove yourself …
