« L’Uomo uccello » selected for the Animation Theater of Siggraph

A film by Sarah Mardiné and Alidia Cerbelaud, 3D animation graduates

Siggraph is one of the major international animation events and attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year. The film by two Lisaa students was selected among hundreds of films, often produced by major studios.

Sarah Mardiné and Alidia Cerbelaud will go to San Diego from August 5 to 9 to present their film and give a conference for professionals. « We don’t necessarily hope to win, explains Alidia. But we’ll meet professionals from around the world and speak with them about what they liked in our film. We are pleased to go and proud of having been selected among the hundreds of projects. »

A conceptual, innovative work

For their end-of-year project, the two students inset 3D elements in a moving human body. They were interested in Leonard de Vinci’s work : The Flying Man.
After researching different inset possibilities, Sarah and Alidia filmed an actor’s movements against a blue background. They then inset the 3D elements and smoothed out the image.

Both experimental and poetic, « L’Uomo uccello » bares witness to the mastery of special effects at the service of an original, innovative proposition.
