The biennial micro-architecture contest was organized by the City de l’Architecture.
The project consisted of creating a mini beach dwelling « by imagining, defining or inventing a clever, featherweight, summer habitation. A new idea for small architecture offering maximum benefits. »
Tiphaine Bris, Alexandra Hue and Florian Valle in AD4 were selected.
Florian’s project : « The family trunk »
"The warm weather has arrived, it’s time to open doors, move out of winter and take advantage of the sun and hot weather. What better idea than to share a meal with family or friends outdoors, rocked by the waves, brushed by the sand or warmed by the setting sun.
The micro-architecture unfolds at the right moment, creating a defined space in an open area. This extensible, modular space can be used according to one’s whims. I see this as a light filter that plays with the sun’s rays any time of the day."
Little green corner, by Alexandra Hue
"With the arrival of good weather, we want to sit on a little spot of green and take advantage of the sun’s first rays, walk in the grass or isolate ourselves in a vegetation cocoon. Unfortunately, in the city, cement and asphalt dominate, it is hard to find a calm, comfortable corner to sit and eat or read, hidden from the stares of passersby. Parks are rare and overpopulated.
This pop-up urban furniture unfolds its little green corner anywhere. As a service offered by the city, it can be installed when the weather gets warmer : modules are unfolded, constructed by one or two people and can easily be moved from place to place. The appearance of these structures at street corners or in plazas is a surprise to pedestrians."
