- How would you define your work ?

I am an illustrator, painter, photographer and video artist. I’m interest in images which exist together. At Lisaa, I learned the idea of a railroad which is fundamental for my work : I only conceive images in series.

For example, I created a fake mail order catalog or a cookbook with Pierre La Police.

I develop imaginary, dreamy worlds … which I make exist in a concrete, down-to-earth reality. Recently, I directed young people from the UMP (Union for a Popular Movement) political party playing outdoors.

- Do you have a taste for being provocative ?

No. But my subjects are always sexy : I like pretty girls and I like to draw them.

- You are also an art director …

I did graphic charts of books for Roy Stuart, a Taschen photograher. Currently I’m working on a superb monography of Paul Burty Haviland, an early 20th century photographer.

A few years ago I remodeled Double magazine’s graphic chart. The interest of working for a fashion magazine is that one has a maximum of graphic freedom. You’re required to be modern, this is ideal in terms of art direction.

I don’t work for the press anymore. My priority is drawing and that takes time. However, when a project interests me and corresponds to my tastes, I do it. I’m not capable of following orders which don’t correspond to my style.
